I.In the first article they talk about movies use hooks to grab attention of people. Movie uses hooks to hang the viewers by ending a scene with a question, and starting a new scene with an answer to the question with sounds and images.
II. The introduction should start with a hook, and then have a thesis to identifies the purpose of the writing, and then write you story. They explain a writing like fishing, you let the readers grab the bait, introduction. After you reel them with the story.
III. The hook is very important in literature, because you have to grab the readers attention, and that is very important because they will be lost in the story and will not be as interested in the story. The readers also might make the standard of the quality of your book by the hook, so you should write one well. Usually good books have a good hook.
2.I think that it has a good hook because it did grab my attention, because I think that it made me interested in the disease the man has, and what the man done. Books use literature grab the readers interested in the start, so they will interested in rest of the story. Movies use it between scenes

The book title hooked me because some incident to a dog happened, and since it is in the night-time, you get this feeling it is something dangerous like murder or thievery will happen to the dog
Movie trailer:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=abQM31QCufI GI Joe'
The trailer used hooks in ways like showing many action scenes, or saying things like when everyone fails we don't", and them shows weapons that enchance you in many ways.
News article: Arms found on ship bound from NKorea to Iran http://www.google.com/hostednews/afp/article/ALeqM5idgfbE56iwzRHHYGg95JBjJmsrrA
This hooks me becuase North Korea is a country who have nuclear weapons and is a country next to us. Since they are selling weapons, it shows that they are doing something dangerous.

Assignment 5
Create a story using your ten vocabulary words. Your scenario should include what you did or did not do during your “swine flu vacation”. Your story should be at least two paragraphs in length. A paragraph counts as 6-8 sentences.
I disdained our unexpected swine flue vacation it than I expected to be. At first, I was glad that we got to miss school for one week because I also got sick even though it was not swine flu, and I became so angular after laying in bed for a whole day feeling really bad. That was the only thing that was actually good, because after that I had to do all the homework that the school had gave us during the vacation. I was ambivalent about the date our school was going to reopen, so I had to start doing my homework after I felt better. I had to even finish my homework in times like the taciturn and serene midnights or places like my dad's office because we were moving.
Even though I lamented because of the amount of homework we recieved, it was for beneficial for our family because we had time to move. So if you think as a family this was actually a really nice break, because if we moved while we go to school, we might have not been able to help because we had no time to move except for my mom, so we would not be able to organize the house for ages, because everyone works in our family. We did not have enough time to make the house ostentatious, but the break gave us enough time to embellish our new house enough to make it livable.
Things that I could not do because of swine flu is sports and play, because even though I wanted to go to school to play basketball, or go practice volleyball as a team. We could not because the school was closed. I could not play because, even though I couldnt concentrate on my homework and wanted to play, I still needed to study even though it was really ineffectice to study without concentrating.

Nouns assignment #4
Link did not work so I had to post the news article
S. Korea`s new flu cases approach 3,000 mark
South Korea`s health authorities confirmed Sunday 106 more cases of new flu, or Type A Influenza, bringing the total number of South Koreans testing positive for the highly-contagious virus to 2,925, according to Yonhap News.
The Sunday toll is the latest clear sign that the Mexico-originated flu, originally called "swine flu," is spreading beyond control in South Korea. So far, two South Koreans, a man in his 50s and a 63-year-old woman, have died of the virus.
The government remains on high alert as the virus could spread faster in the next couple of weeks as students head back to school after summer vacations.
"It`s highly likely that the number of patients could surge as students return to schools this week," said an official at the Ministry of Health and Welfare.
The official urged people to wash their hands frequently with soap and water and try to avoid close contact with sick people. If anyone has flu-like symptoms, he or she should visit a hospital for diagnosis, according to the official.

What is the importance of nouns?
Nouns are important, because if we do not have nouns in our life, we would not be able to refer to someone, or define anyone that we want to direct to.
How do they affect our everyday lives?
It would affect our everyday lives dramatically, because you have no way tell that you are referring to someone. So if you say something like "go in line" in front of 30 people in a public facility, it would be extremely hard to point out who you are referring to.
Would the English language be limited without nouns? Why or why not?
Yes, because your sentences will become very short and it would be hard to expand. Like you can't have any subjects or objects, so your sentence would go more than something like "very confused", because you can't use "I", and there is no reason to put "am".
How do nouns affect other languages?
Yes, every language needs nouns so it could refer to something. For example, in Korea we also use nouns, even though it would be as weird as English when we do not have any nouns, but nouns are still a very important part of literacy.

http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/columns/story?columnist=adande_ja&page=Jackson-090818
It talks about how important Phil Jackson is to the LA Lakers, and shows thought of people who might be taking over the team after he retires and leaves his coaching career. It has strong ideas because it was focused on finding a good coach, and it has theme that tells us that Phil Jackson is very good coach and its hard to find a successor of him

It wrote about well develop ideas, it shows how it is not going to change if they move it a little more.

Pakistan Burn Victims Turn Beauticians
"Pakistan Burn Victims Turn Beauticians' is about two poor women who had damage their faces because of acid attacks or fire from others who live out their lives as beautifully as beauticians trying to help other victims in Pakistan. I think the story was about how true beauty is from the heart. I think the article was written with good ideas. The writer had a clear focus of writing about the life story of two victims who became beauticians. The story gave many small details about the story and they all connect into one central theme. Like details about the girl with no face, and how many people asked for help for being poured acid in the face, it all connected to the theme. The writer did not give us massive amounts of details to make us bored, but just gave some that specific and supportive to the story and that helps grabbing the readers intrest.

Writing 9 Assignment #1
*What characteristics describe “good” writing
.A good writing should have a strong voice about your opinion, and a strong voice appeals to the writer more strongly. It should also have good coherence with the whole essay, so it does not go off topic and the flow of the sentences should be smooth. Strong vocabulary always helps to describe the writing. Your words should not be repeating all the time. Also, you can try to use new words, but you should make sure that it is not forced. The paragraphs should be more organized. For example, you should not be starting a new support when you are not done with the first one.
*What is the process of writing?
The process of writing that we learned in school is brain storming, writing, revision, editing, and then publishing. Brain storming is where you choose your ideas. Writing is just your first draft of what you write. Revising is for improving your essay, and it could be done with a group or just your self. Editing is the same thing as revising, but you are fixing things like grammar, spelling, and puntcuation. Finnally, you publish the writing, publishing is anyway to share your writing to other people. But if you just think of the process more simply, you are just thinking what to write, write, you review what you what you write, and present it to others.
